I Documented 400 Episodes of Abuse. Now I Need a New Start

Hi, my name is Sena.
I’m raising $1000 to start over after leaving an abusive marriage.
After four years of emotional, financial, physical, immigration-related, and psychological abuse, I’ve made the decision to leave. For 4.5 years, I lived in the U.S. without legal status. I’ve just adjusted my immigration status — and now I finally have a chance to rebuild my life in safety.
My husband and I moved to the U.S. together in 2020. Since then, he’s used my undocumented status to control and isolate me, cutting off my freedom and financial access.
I’ve documented over 400 episodes of abuse in just the past three months while preparing my VAWA petition. The emotional manipulation was constant. One day, during an argument, he told me:
“If I had a dog in this house, at least the dog would appreciate me more than you.”
In another conversation, he referred to his previous wife as “a virus.” This is how he talks about women who leave him.
In one of the most painful moments, I sent him a photo of my swollen, tear-stained face, asking for support. His only response was:
“It’s just a picture. Take a shower and take care of yourself.”
Despite everything, I’m fighting to move forward.
I’ve found a remote job and I’m starting on Monday. I’ll be staying at a friend’s house for the first month, but I need help with the basics — especially food and transportation. I cannot stay in a shelter because I need a quiet and stable space to work, prove myself, and start earning.
I’m not looking for pity. I’m asking for support — to get through the next few weeks with strength and dignity. Every dollar helps me stand on my own feet again.
If you’ve ever felt caged, silenced, or scared, you know how hard it is to break free.
I’m almost there. This is the final stretch.
Thank you for being part of my freedom.
