My name is Melanie. I’m Sean’s wife, and we’ve been together for nearly 30 years. He is the love of my life, my BAE (B4 Any1 Else). We have been through our share of ups and downs, but this ordeal is by far the worst. So many things have happened since August 16, 2025, at 7 am.

First off, I’d like to tell you more about him. Sean is a very generous, caring, loving, hardworking, and absolutely hilarious man. Although he can sometimes be tough and rough around the edges, he is also a huge softy. He was madly in love with our 2 fur babies & you wouldn’t know it by looking at him, but he loves his hugs and cuddles. He cares deeply for his loved ones and will always have their backs.

Sean has been a dedicated employee of Walmart for 20 years. He worked tirelessly and worked his way up. He is well respected by his coworkers for his work ethic and dedication. He often sacrificed holidays with his family to work and make sure the store and his staff ran smoothly and were supported.

On August 16, 2025, at 7 am, life came crashing down on us as Sean suffered a severely devastating stroke. He was taken to a hospital that didn’t give him a fighting chance. Surgeons there made poor decisions and did the bare minimum for him. With no hope or empathy from the neurosurgeon, neurologist, or intensivist, we began to advocate for his transfer. With the help and guidance from knowledgeable loved ones, we arrived at Sunrise Hospital, and within the first 48 hours in their care, decisions were made by the medical staff that ultimately led to improvements.

Sean has been through more in these past months than most people face in a lifetime.

He’s had fluid drained from his brain, a trache incision that was made too long and deep, therefore taking much longer to heal, multiple moves in and out of different ICU units, being transferred to an LTACH (Long Term Acute Care Hospital) where critical neurological care was delayed, and hydrocephalus (fluid buildup in the brain) was once again found in his brain, rushing him back to Sunrise where later he was to receive a VP shunt. But a few days before his procedure, he went into cardiac arrest in CMU because they failed to recognize his elevated heart rate and high potassium levels. The amazing nurses in the ICU on that particular day were able to bring him back quickly. Thank the Lord staff acted so fast without a second thought.

After another week-long stay in the ICU, Sean was once again downgraded to CMU and was doing great. He was able to be taken off the vent and only breathing room air with an occasional boost of oxygen. Such an amazing win for us all, but we couldn’t celebrate that for long because we found that his sacral wound had gotten much worse.

We have now found ourselves in the Burn ICU where his deep sacral wound has needed surgery. Thankfully, the surgery went well, but his wound has a long way to go before it’s healed. Sean had to be put back on the vent due to low oxygen levels, and they were not able to bring it up fast enough. Being on the vent was only supposed to be for 24 hours, but it has now been over a week.

Every time we think we’re past the worst of it, something new arises, but every time, Sean shows us his strength again and again.

He has fought through all of that, and he is still fighting.

We know that we have a long and difficult road ahead of us. There will undoubtedly be challenges along the way, but we’re trusting God, holding onto our faith, and doing everything we can to get him back to his life and to all those who love him so very much.

We are reaching out because the emotional, physical, and financial toll of this journey has become overwhelming. Anything you are able to give will go directly towards Sean’s medical care and all the support he needs as he continues to fight his way back.

We ask that you embrace this journey with Sean, and we thank you for taking the time to read Sean’s story. Thank you for believing in him, praying for him, and standing with us through this. Your support means more than we can ever express.
