My name is Brittney. I’m a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of NY. I started fostering a surrendered Boxer puppy when he was approximately 2 months old. When he was first brought to where I work, it was determined that his rectum was closed and he could not let out a bowel movement. This puppy, now named “Scootie,” was surgically given a rectum by his amazing primary Veterinarian! However, he had already developed Megacolon from all of the feces building up in his colon. This has led to Scootie having a rectal stricture right at the end of his colon.
Scootie CANNOT pass a normal stool, and has received multiple enemas in order to get him to move his bowels. Having a bowel movement is VERY uncomfortable for Scootie. He moans in agony and sometimes it can go on for 24 hours straight where he won’t eat, won’t drink, becomes severely dehydrated and his urine is almost as dark as coffee. Scootie wears human baby diapers everyday to help contain the diarrhea as best as I can. Diapers have caused rashes on his cute little thighs along with hair loss too. He still has a full life ahead of him, but he just needs to be able to have his rectal stricture repaired so he can have a normal bowel movement. It hurts to see him trying to have a bowel movement as he wants to pass a normal stool but his body just won’t allow him to because of this stricture he has.
I know this story was long, but please be a financial help for Scootie as he sets out on this journey for his rectal stricture repair. A Board Certified Surgeon is willing to take a chance to help Scootie and I’m taking a chance too! I love this little dude and he brings extra joy into my life and deserves to live his life fully!
