Hi everyone,
I never imagined I’d be writing this. Just a month ago, Scooby was a happy, active dog—full of life, always ready for a walk, a cuddle, or a spontaneous day trip. But everything changed overnight.
Scooby suddenly lost the ability to use his back legs. After rushing him to the emergency vet, we found out he had a massive disc herniation causing 50% spinal compression. The only option to give him a chance at walking again was emergency spinal surgery. I didn’t think twice—I love him more than anything.
The surgery went well, but now comes the hardest part: recovery.
Scooby is currently paralyzed in his back legs, and we’re working every single day on rehab, expressing his bladder, moving his legs, using a support harness—doing whatever we can at home. The vets say he has a 50/50 chance of walking again, and I’m holding onto that hope with everything I’ve got.
Scooby has pet insurance, which helped cover a portion of his emergency surgery. However, since it was extremely costly at $21,000 we still had to pay thousands out of pocket. Unfortunately, it also doesn’t cover everything—especially the ongoing costs of physical therapy- which is $200- $300 per session, specialized equipment, and daily care he now needs. We’re doing everything we can for him, but it has been a lot at once.
If you’re able to donate anything at all—even just share this—it would mean the world to both of us. Every little bit helps bring Scooby closer to walking again and gives us a chance at a happy, mobile life together again.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and caring about my sweet boy.
