I hate to be writing this right now, but I’m at a loss.
I adopted Tito in November of 2022, after he had been hit by a car and surrendered by his owners. His previous owners had given him up to an individual who crated Tito in the back of his truck, where Tito escaped out of. He was then living in the office of an auto shop for 2 months waiting to be adopted after he had been rescued, due to the lack of fosters and adoption applications. In his short 4 years of life, he has not had the best of luck. For anyone who has met him, knows he is the biggest love bug.
About a month ago, Tito started limping on his right front paw to the point where he was falling over. After initially thinking he sprained his ankle, put on pain relievers and bed rest, he couldn’t stand up the other day. This warranted another trip to the vet, where they told me they didn’t think his ankle was the problem. X-rays were taken of his neck where they could see changes to his cervical (neck) spine that could indicate either a condition called Wobblers or a condition called intervertebral disk disease (IVDD). The vet recommended starting him on steroids and seeing a neurology specialist, which is very costly. Even walking into the neurologist and the MRI alone will be thousands of dollars. Surgery is in question too, and we need to be prepared. With his size, he will probably need rehab either way as well.
Tito is also a very large dog (130 lbs), and I am unfortunately a small human. He will be needing various equipment for myself to move him around while he heals.
Unfortunately, I was not prepared for this to happen to him, as I don’t think anyone would be. For anyone who may know me, I hate asking for help, but I cannot give up on Tito. He is my world, my everything. He came into my life when I needed him the most, and I need to give him every chance I can for him to be able to walk normally again. Anything helps, and I appreciate everyone who is willing to❤️
—With love,
Sarah & Tito Man
