My name is Sam Pascucci from Sam's Giant Tortoise Farm.

Bernie, one of our giant male Galapagos tortoises, fell sick with a serious infection. He is very popular on social media and has hundreds of millions of views over the years. He is known as an ambassador for the species worldwide.

His surgery and care may run over $15,000. It is a very uncommon infection caused by Chromoblastomycosis. It is rare in tortoises, but it's not the first time the disease has been seen.

I am determined to save him, but he is going to need surgery and a long hospital visit.

In addition, he will need a special pen and expensive medications. The recovery time is expected to take longer than 6 months.

There are no guarantees we can save his life, but I have to try. I want to beat this infection, and I am committed to coming up with the best cure not just for him but for any tortoise that may suffer from this disease.
