Hi, my name is Saël Charles, and I am an 8th grader at Denver Language School, where I’ve been studying Mandarin since kindergarten. This year, I have an exciting opportunity to take a two-week class trip to Taiwan, where we will immerse ourselves in the language and culture I’ve been learning about for years.

I’ve been working hard to raise funds for the trip through fundraising efforts and even doing commercials (yes, I’m also an actor!). So far, I’ve been able to raise half of the money needed, but I still need to raise about $2,200 to make this trip a reality.

In Taiwan, we’ll have the chance to take classes with Taiwanese students, visit temples, try delicious local foods, and, of course, speak Mandarin the entire time! This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will help me grow both as a student and as a person.
