Meet Sadie. Sadie is a nine month old Border Collie mix from San Antonio, Texas. Sadie was thrown from a vehicle and sustained broken bones and irreversible nerve damage to her front left leg. She was placed in a high kill shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized the next morning. Despite being six months pregnant and already having three rescue dogs of their own, Amanda and Maranda saw Sadie's sweet face on the euthanasia list and couldn't help but save this baby. Sadie was rescued by them and transported to Connecticut where Maranda and Amanda spent thousands of dollars attempting to save her leg. Sadie has worked with a physical therapist doing hydrotherapy, engaged in dozens of UV light treatments, and seen numerous veterinarians including an orthopedic specialist.
Despite their best efforts, the nerve damage to her leg is irreversible and it has been unanimously decided that a full amputation on her leg is what is best for Sadie in order for her to live her best life. Since Sadie is so young and does not have movement on the leg as it is, the prognosis on Sadie adjusting to life as a tripod looks great for her.
Sadie is scheduled for a full amputation on July 10th, 2024. We are raising money for her surgery in hopes to bring some financial ease to Amanda and Maranda who are expecting their baby girl in September. Amanda will not receive maternity leave from her job so every donation, no matter how small, will be incredibly appreciated by them. Funds received will be used to pay for her surgery, recovery, and follow-up physical therapy to make her adjustment to life on three legs as easy as possible for her.
Sadie is an amazing dog who deserves the best life. She is so grateful for her second chance. Thank you in advance to anyone who can support this beautiful girl.
