Join Ruthie's Fight Against Hodgkin's Lymphoma

On February 15, 2024 after finding a lump above her right clavicle the previous week Ruthie was seen by her pediatrician and was sent to children's hospital in Pittsburgh for immediate scans...we were told it was cancer and that it was some type of lymphoma...there were multiple masses in her chest and nodules in her lungs. The next morning she underwent a biopsy with local anesthetic and mild sedation as the mass above her clavicle was surrounding the internal jugular vein and it was too risky to be put under general anesthesia. She was so brave going through that and had the team play Lana Del Ray while they did her biopsy. She also had a PET scan a few days later. We waited for 2 weeks for the results to find out it is Hodgkins lymphoma stage 4. She then had surgery to place a port to receive chemo and started her treatment that same day. She receives chemo every 2 weeks outpatient at children's hospital Pittsburgh for a total of 12 treatments before she will get another scan to see if the treatments have been successful.

She is experiencing extreme fatigue, nausea, and now significant hair loss. She is an incredibly brave and beautiful(inside and out)young lady. She has been handling all of this with a level of strength and grace that to me as her mom just amazes me that she is just a young teenager!

Taking time off from work, travel expenses, eating at hospital, and Ruthie needing a wig are just some of the reasons a gofund me was created.
