My name is Shannon Smith. I am Russell Webb's daughter and a third grade teacher in Dallas, Texas. My dad took me on my first skydive when I was 18 years old, and we made 7 other father/daughter jumps after that. We are both historians, but he really enjoys documenting EVERYTHING. He's always looking for his next viral video, like house-training racoons, but he was definitely not expecting his future videos to include brain cancer.
We would love your support in helping Russell, my dad, fight Glioblastoma—
Life can truly change in an instant. Just seven weeks ago, Russell Webb—my dad, our fearless friend, devoted criminal defense attorney, passionate skydiver, and talented photographer—was planning his next jump, tackling complex legal cases, and debating whether to attend the next ARAMCO reunion. Then, without warning, everything came crashing down.
Russell’s vision began to fail, and doctors soon diagnosed him with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. In January, he underwent a craniotomy that successfully removed 95% of the tumor. Now, he faces an intense treatment plan: twelve weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, followed by a cutting-edge targeted vaccine developed from his own tumor tissue at Memorial Hermann in Houston.
As he embarks on this long and difficult journey, he needs as much help as he can get. He has already lost much of his vision and won’t be able to drive. He will need a stable place to stay, ongoing care, and financial support to navigate the months ahead. The last things we want is for him to worry about are medical bills and daily expenses while he fights this battle for his life.
Russell has always lived life at full speed—taking on challenges headfirst, both in the courtroom and in the skies. But now, for the first time, he has to slow down and focus on healing. Let’s rally around him and make sure he can meet this challenge with strength, without the burden of financial stress.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference. If you know Russell, you know he’d be extremely reluctant to ask for help—but right now, he truly needs it. Let’s show him he’s not in this fight alone.
