Help Robert Pincus Recover from a Stroke!

Please help me raise $10,000 to cover my hospital and rehab hospital bills.

No one would have thought that it would be a stroke that not only took me out of action but bankrupt me.

There were so many other options other than stroke choose from. I have been struggling with my health for the last several years. My diabetes is under control and then not under control. The stenosis in my back makes some motions and positions terribly uncomfortable. And then the diabetes and stenosis have ganged up to keep my feet in a constant state of neuropathy. Despite these health conditions and the pain associated with them, I have persevered. I have been not only working to solve these health issues (which seems well more easily and cheaply said than done), but maintained my 40-hour per week job and sustained a side hustle that sometimes has me hauling plants and loaded boxes over the course of hours on the weekends. It wasn’t a super situation, but I was making a go. Then absolute disaster hit.

Three weeks ago, I left work early as I didn’t feel well. I got home, climbed into bed. When I woke around 10pm to go the bathroom, I got out of bed and fell to the floor. My right leg couldn’t hold me up. When I tried to get up, I realized that my right arm wasn’t functioning either. After dragging myself around my apartment using the power of the left side of my body, I was able to call an ambulance and get the deadbolt on the front door undone so the emergency crew could get into my apartment. The diagnosis was stroke. The good news is that my cognitive function is relatively unaffected. (At least I know where I am and why I am here!)

I lost all my motor function on my right side. While the prognosis is positive- the doctors think I can regain 80-90% use of my arm and leg- this will take time (away from work) and money.

I have health insurance, which is covering a fair amount of the bills, though far from all. The hospital wants xxxx. I am now in rehab, and am pleased to note that I took 15 steps between the parallel bars yesterday. I can also waggle some of the fingers and toes on my right side! Recovery does look possible. It means at least another two weeks in rehab, and away from work. And, if I am not successful in this rehab, I may not be able to return to work. The bill for rehab, the part not picked up by insurance, will be at least $4800. Sadly, I am not at work earning the money to pay these bills, and I have taken the pay for my vacation days to try and keep up with my bills. I could really use your help.

I thank you all for all of your donations from the bottom of my heart!!

Sincerely,
Robert Pincus
