Hello, my name is Risa.
On Friday the 13th, I started feeling ill, vomiting and puking, night chills, fevers, the works.
I promptly went to my primary care physician who tested me for COVID, flu, and strep, all of which came back negative.
She told me to follow the BRAT diet and drink lots of fluids.
A few days go by and I begin throwing up water; this would be December 20th, 2024.
The following morning, December 21st, I wake up the weakest I've felt and decide to run myself to the local ER.
There, they run the same tests that all come back negative. After several CT scans, X-rays, MRIs, and blood work, we come to the conclusion of my diagnosis.
I am in septic shock, have a rare disease called Lemierre's syndrome, and a rare nasty bacteria in my bloodstream called Fusobacterium necrophorum.
The septic shock and Lemierre's have done their work, causing blood clots in my neck and my lungs, along with pneumonia in my right lung, which is being pumped out slowly. I have fluid, pus, and air pockets in my lungs still. As well as partial collapse.
I am now facing surgery...
I don't currently have insurance and am unable to work for who knows how long, so I'm creating this GoFundMe to help with my medical expenses as well as living expenses until I'm back on my feet.
Thank you for reading this far- ❤️
