Spende geschützt
We’re reaching out to ask for support for our dear friend, Richard Mayo, who is currently facing one of the toughest battles of his life—Stage III Bladder Cancer.
Throughout our time knowing Rich, he has become not only our mentor, but one of our biggest supporters in life. Words will never fulfill the gratitude we have for him as both a colleague and a friend. He has provided so much love and support for all those he surrounds himself with, and it’s important we return the favor, especially in times like this.
After months of fighting with strength, resilience, and grace, Rich will undergo a major surgery to have his bladder removed as part of the treatment plan. On February 14th, 2025, Rich was diagnosed with Stage III Bladder Cancer, which led to him completing 8 weeks of chemotherapy treatments, and later underwent surgery to get the tumor in the bladder removed. In June, Rich received results from a PET scan, showing there was no more cancer in the bladder. While meeting with the surgeon two weeks before his major surgery, he found out there is, however, still cancer in his ureter and lymph nodes. On August 8th, Rich will be getting his bladder removed, while the surgeons also will aim to remove the rest of the cancer from the ureter and lymph nodes.
Starting this week, Rich is out of work on medical leave to recover and begin the next chapter of healing. After the surgery, Rich will be out of work for 6 additional weeks to recover. While his spirits remain high, the financial strain of ongoing medical bills, medications, and loss of income is overwhelming. Rich and his wonderful wife, Karen, will still need to cover living expenses and medical expenses that have come with this war.
As friends, we’ve witnessed firsthand how generous, hardworking, and kind Rich is—always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh, even on the hardest days. For those of you who know him, you know just how caring he is. While going through his own battles in life, he will always put others first, whether it’s his family, friends, colleagues, or the patients we serve. Rich is the type of man to give you the shirt off his back, no matter who you are, with no questions asked. Rich is the type of friend who is always there to motivate others. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.
We’ve created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden while Rich focuses on recovery. Every dollar raised will go directly toward medical expenses and living costs while he is out of work.
No donation is too small—every bit helps. And if you’re unable to give at this time, please consider sharing this page with your network to help us spread the word.
Rich truly embodies the warrior spirit. In fact, he is actually referred to as “Warrior” just as often as “Rich”. Let’s rally around our Warrior, Rich, with the love and support he deserves. Thank you so much for standing with him during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
The friends & family of Richard Mayo
