Remi has had pain on and off since March. At first, it would come for a day or two and then be gone for weeks. They thought it was typical stuff - maybe growing pains or a muscle strain. Her mom took her to her pediatrician in April and they also thought just growing pains, but referred her to ortho just in case (insurance denied it). When they were in Dallas the week of June 6, the pain started to become constant and severe. They couldn’t get her back into the pediatrician for 2 months so they took her to the ER a few weeks ago so they would do an X-ray. They only x-rayed her long bone and it was normal. The pain persisted so her Dad went into the base clinic and told them about her pain and requested the soonest available appointment. They repeated the x-ray but included her hip and found a “sizable and concerning” lesion on her R pelvis. Then she had additional imaging to confirm Ewings Sarcoma.

Remi will need chemotherapy for 12 weeks, then radiation, and then chemo again for 14 weeks.

Over the next days, weeks, and months ahead they will need to be at countless doctor appointments and hospital stays. As you can imagine the normal costs of every day living...such as rent, food, gas, car, etc...the medical costs can be astronomical.

This will enable Remi's parents to be able to concentrate on Remi getting well and fighting this wicked disease called cancer.
