This is a fundraiser for my dear friend Rachel Weitz and her family.
Rachel was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of May, 2024. This shocking news led Rachel into a whirlwind of important and very difficult decisions that had to be made as rapidly as possible.
Our beloved friend Rachel has now started treatment, and is grateful to be included in a study that allows her access to the most sophisticated cancer treatments currently available for her type of cancer. This form of treatment will include regular MRIs and biopsies to monitor the cancer's response to the medications she is being given. This stage of treatment will be for 6 months, followed by another phase which will likely include some combination of surgery and radiation.
In order to prevent further cancer growth, Rachel's medication is putting her into early menopause, which is a powerful physical and emotional initiation to enter into in the midst of all her treatment. All of these treatments are creating a significant amount of side effects that Rachel is navigating while also working and mothering her four year old daughter.
Throughout the trial, Rachel will be driving an hour each way to the hospital many times a month for treatment, surgical planning, and to monitor her progress. She is also receiving supplemental acupuncture, body work, and healing support from her gifted community of practitioners.
Rachel is working out every day and feeling [like a bad-ass mama boss] strong, hopeful, and as prepared as she can be to navigate the rest of this year.
Your donations to the GoFundMe have allowed her access to this healing support in a way she would not have otherwise. Rachel has to cut back her work schedule to manage all of her appointments, and once she has surgery she will not be able to work for some time.
Your donations also create a deeply helpful and important net of support to hold Rachel and her family while she is not working and continues to tend to her health. Thank you!
Let's hold Rachel and her family in a warm and supportive container of financial support! They are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support enabling her to focus on healing.
My prayer for them is that this long road ahead, with so many physical and emotional challenges, does not have to include the stress of meeting the overwhelming expenses this year will entail.
Thanks for envisioning Rachel and her wise body in a fully healed and well state.
Rachel is one of the most generous, loving, open hearted and wise people I know. She helps so many, and it is such a joy to give back to this wonderful woman and her family.
Thanks for your support, care, and love. Blessed Be.
