On July 18, 2025, my beloved brother Jerry survived a traumatic and life-threatening accident that changed everything in an instant. A man turned left without signaling while Jerry was passing him, forcing him to swerve off and back onto the road and to lose control of his vehicle slamming through a guardrail and over the Cowskin Creek Bridge off North Oliver in Belle Plaine, Ks. This is where he dropped and rolled about 30 feet down to the ground below. Unfortunately the man who caused the accident left the scene. Multiple witnesses stopped and helped save his life. It took multiple people to carry him on a stretcher up the emankment where he was transported by Ambulance to the hospital. His air bags never deployed, and his car Insurance will not cover much. He's in a really tough situation.
The impact left him with multiple severe injuries. According to the trauma team, Jerry sustained:
Spinous process fractures from T4 to T10, a T12 vertebral compression fracture, fractures/complete breaks to 5 ribs on his right side. He was fitted for a back brace and will be under medical care for a minimum of the next 8 weeks.
He is under neurosurgical evaluation to determine whether spinal surgery will be necessary.
Jerry was hospitalized, undergoing constant monitoring, and is now facing an incredibly painful and uncertain recovery. The fall alone could have been fatal, but Jerry is a fighter. He survived, but now he needs our help to heal.
We’re raising funds to help cover:
Emergency trauma care and hospitalization
Specialist and neurosurgical evaluations
Medical imaging and treatments
Extended physical therapy and rehabilitation
Lost wages and living costs during recovery
Jerry has always been someone who shows up for others. Now, it’s our turn to stand by him. Whether you can give financially, share this campaign, or keep him in your prayers, every gesture helps.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Jerry through this difficult journey. If you would like to donate via venmo, you can send to venmo tag, @mannjerry058
