Hi, my name is Paloma and I’m the very proud cat mom of Grumpus.

I adopted Grumpus on New Year’s Day. She was only a tiny kitten then, and just two weeks later she was diagnosed with megaesophagus. Since that day it has been an uphill battle. She is now 10 months old and weighs only 3.5 pounds. Every single day of her young life has been a fight to survive.

For eight months we tried everything. She went through countless tests, including a full fluoroscopy to see if there was an underlying cause. Every result came back negative. Despite all of that effort, she continued to vomit and regurgitate daily. Some days it felt impossible to keep her stable, and I was told more than once that without a feeding tube, euthanasia might be her only option.

But Grumpus never gave up. Even through nonstop vomiting, weight loss, and exhaustion, she fought to stay here. On August 13th she finally had a feeding tube placed, and it has already changed everything for her. For the first time since I’ve had her, she’s stable. She’s keeping food down, she’s comfortable, and she’s finally able to rest without struggling.

I am a veterinary technician and I’ve done everything in my power to keep her alive. Emergency visits, hospitalizations, medications, and now surgery—it has all added up. I have poured every resource I have into her care, but I am completely tapped out. If another emergency were to happen right now, I don’t have anything left to fall back on.

I never thought I would be making a GoFundMe, but I want to give Grumpus the best chance at life. She is only 10 months old and has fought harder than any cat I’ve ever known. She deserves the chance to grow, to gain weight, and to experience life without constant suffering.
