My friend Melissa and her family would never ask, so I am asking for them. Melissa's family could use our community's help in navigating the fight of their lives. Owen is Melissa and her husband Roman's ten-year-old son. Since Owen's diagnosis of Anaplastic Ependymoma brain cancer in December 2023, he has shown incredible strength and resilience. Over the past year, he has undergone three brain surgeries, endured 60 rounds of radiation to both his brain and spine, and spent countless days and nights in the hospital. Despite the challenges, Owen continues to be an inspiration to all who know him.

His cancer is aggressive, and the medical team is working tirelessly to give him the best chance at a healthy future. Owen is scheduled for his fourth brain surgery on April 4th, after which he will begin his recovery. Once he has had a couple of weeks to heal, Owen and his family will travel to Augusta, GA, to participate in a promising clinical trial. This trial combines chemotherapy with immunotherapy in an effort to prevent his tumors from returning. It will involve monthly trips to Georgia for check-ups, but Owen's unwavering courage and his family's dedication keep them focused on giving him the life he deserves.
