Join Notes on Complexity - a Feature Film That Cuts Deep

I’m an international writer, director and producer based in New York. A two-time Berlinale and Slamdance alumna, I’ve directed feature films such as Paris is in Harlem, The Rainbow Experiment, and 42 Seconds of Happiness. I also wrote and produced the Golden Berlin Bear-nominated thriller The Commissioner, starring John Hurt. My work has premiered at major festivals, earned awards and critical acclaim, toured globally, and is available on streaming platforms worldwide--including in-flight entertainment systems like Emirates and Qatar Airways.

Now, I’m making my fourth feature film: Notes on Complexity. Developed at The Actors Studio in NYC, it's a raw, darkly hilarious love story between a filmmaker and a theater director navigating ambition, insecurity, and obsession. It pulls back the curtain on art, ego, power, and the desperate need to be seen--a collision between Greek tragedy, romantic comedy, and unflinching reality.

The film stars Javier Molina, actor, director, and the first Latino Co-Artistic Director of The Actors Studio; Kate T. Billingsley, actor, playwright, and Lifetime Member of The Actors Studio whose plays and performances have lit up NYC stages. And yes—you’ll also recognize a few familiar faces from my previous films.

New York City is more than a setting—it’s a character. With over 200 theaters on Broadway alone, countless Off-Broadway stages, and its unique independent film scene, the city is a magnet. It’s the place where artists come to chase wild dreams and lose themselves in the fire of creation. That’s what this film is about. That’s what we’re about.

So, if you’ve ever wondered what it really means to be a director, an actor, or a writer—especially now, as our industry seems to be imploding—this is your chance to see it unfiltered.

And yeah, it’ll make you laugh too. Because at the core of every heartbreak is absurdity—and Notes on Complexity doesn’t hold back.

This film is made against all odds—without asking permission, and flying in the face of that tired old industry line: “No one wants to see inside baseball. They just want to watch the game.”
