Hi, my name is Noelia. I am a 16-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Metastatic Osteosarcoma on September 25, 2023. I have had 11 surgeries, gone through 10 months of chemo, and 5 rounds of radiation. It has been very hard to stay positive during this time, but I tried to keep a smile on my face because I wasn’t going to let the cancer beat me.
It has been especially tough given I am a teenage girl who should be enjoying high school, playing the sport I love, soccer, and having fun being a normal teenager. During this time, I have received wonderful support from my friends and family, but now I need additional help from the community. Since my cancer keeps progressing and relapsing and I’ve already had too many surgeries on my lungs, a surgical option is not right for me. Chemo is not a guaranteed cure, and I don’t want to give my body that toxicity again if it is for nothing. So, we are looking at other options with immunotherapy.
My doctors have contacted a hospital in Houston called MD Anderson Cancer Center, and they have a CAR-NK treatment. That treatment will look at the genetic component of my tumor and attack it with my immune system. Hopefully, this treatment will finally rid my body of the cancer altogether. Unfortunately, my insurance is not going to cover all of the expenses because the treatment is out of state, which is why I am asking for help. I desperately need this treatment and any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
