Hi, my name is Leah, I am a friend of Nikki & grant, whom recently just welcomed their baby girl into the world. Baby Kiera has been facing some health issues since she arrived, and has unfortunately been in the nicu since the day she was born. During delivery, Kiera aspirated some amniotic fluid but was doing well, all things considered. The first night, she was struggling with her respirations but was stable. The next day, she was taken to the nicu for breathing retractions and put on a CPAP machine. On day 2 in the nicu, she still wasn’t progressing as much as the dr would have liked her to, so they ordered more tests, which indicated that baby Kiera tested positive for Covid, which they believe she contracted from a healthcare worker. Since then, she was transferred and placed in isolation. She is still terribly congested, requiring nebulizer treatments and suctioning. She is making progress but continues to need oxygen and other respiratory support. Due to these heart breaking circumstances, Nikki & grant are faced with financial burden as they grapple with overwhelming hospital bills. Nikki & grant are some of the kindest & most loving people I know, and they are in need of our support more than ever right now.
