Dear Friends & Family of Nick & Angie Dunhill,
As a fellow cancer warrior and survivor, I am honored to write this fundraising petition on behalf of Nick & Angie:
For the past 18 months, Nick, with his devoted wife Angie, has been fighting an extremely rare form of pancreatic cancer called Mixed Acinar Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Pancreas (Stage 3). Only 630 cases have been diagnosed in the last 20 years.
During this timeframe, Nick's medical journey has been fraught with the twists of turns of unsettling uncertainty that characterizes cancer. It has taken going to several medical facilities and much round trip travel to receive a proper diagnosis and finally treatment.
Thankfully, after completing 10 rounds of mFOLFIRINOX chemotherapy, Nick is a candidate for a lifesaving, highly specialized procedure called Irreversible Electroporation (NanoKnife IRE for short). Nick has fought so hard and come so far in such a long and arduous journey. Now, he NEEDS OUR HELP TO SAVE HIS LIFE.
The NanoKnife surgeon, who is one of a few qualified to perform this procedure and located in Florida, does not accept insurance. His office is requiring payment in full before the procedure.
With Nick being unable to work since March 2024, Nick and Angie, despite their best efforts, have exhausted and exceeded their personal savings to cover the medical expenses associated with Nick’s treatments thus far.
The family is raising $35,000 to ensure Nick proceeds with this critical surgery and follow up medical services. Any amount, no matter how small, would greatly help them reach their financial goals to get Nick back on the path to health and recovery!
Thank you for your time and any help you can offer. Your support during this difficult time means the WORLD to Nick & Angie!
(For further information regarding for Nick's medical timeline and procedure, please read below):
~ Nick started having abdominal pains in October 2023. In January 2024, the pain was initially diagnosed as pancreatitis. Then in May 2024, Nick was told he had pancreatic cancer. Finally in August 2024, the corrected diagnosis of Mixed Acinar Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Pancreas was given.
~The Nanoknife procedure is a minimally invasive operation that uses short, high-voltage electrical pulses to destroy bad cells without harming surrounding healthy tissue. It works by creating tiny holes (nanopores) in the cell membranes. These pores then disrupt the cell's electrical balance causing the cell to die. In layman's terms, it is basically electrocuting the cells to death. The body then reabsorbs the dead cells which creates a personalized vaccine.
Thank you for letting Nick and Angie know they are NOT ALONE as they approach the finish line!
