Hi, my name is Sophia French. I am a 19-year-old student at Valencia College and am about to complete my AA Degree this spring. I am majoring in Real Estate with a minor in Business Management.

 

My journey as a Christian began in 2019. Right from the start, the presence of God overwhelmed me because of the abundant love He has poured out on me. I was going through a tough time in my life right before I came to Christ. Battling an eating disorder for years, I had gotten to a place of depression and anxiety. One night, a very good friend of mine invited me to attend a youth event at a church, and from that moment on, my life changed forever.

 

I felt God starting to call me to Africa in 2021. The first time I heard his voice say this to me was

nerve-racking. Never in my life had I thought of going to Africa, let alone going by myself on a mission trip there. However, time went on, and I now know God was preparing my heart for what was to come.

 

At the end of last year, I met a wonderful man and woman who work for non-profits based in Africa. About a month ago, I reached out to them and told them about this calling I felt to serve. We stayed in touch as I continued praying to the Lord about what He wanted from me and where He wanted me to go. After a month in prayer, I got a phone call that changed my life. The woman I met last year who lives in Africa mentioned me to a friend near her village who needs someone to help with her non-profit.

 

After speaking to this woman and hearing her vision for her non-profit, Real Answers for Real Life, I feel strongly that this is where God is leading me. Real Answers for Real Life is a gospel-centered ministry with the Great Commission as its primary focus. The Lord has blessed me with multiple affirmations to show me that this is where I am to be placed. I will need to pay for my expenses, travel, and stay for this internship, so this is where YOU come in!

 

I am so excited to be able to serve the people of Uganda and share my experience with those who are unable to travel for mission work at this time but desire to help somehow. By financially supporting me in any way possible, you are helping the people of Uganda by allowing me to preach His truth and grow His kingdom.

 

I am so excited to join Real Answers for Real Life as we seek to help families break the poverty cycle by equipping them to create their own sustainable businesses. This year, they will be listening to the bible in their local language as we teach them the word. We will also be teaching life and business skills. As “business ministers,” we will be creating micro-businesses for Uganda women to run, with the purpose of training them to eventually continue as their own.

 

In Matthew 28, Jesus gave these famous last words: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
