Henry's Journey: A Story of Hope and Healing

Hi, my name is Henry, and I’m a 5-month-old French Bulldog. I’m a little different from other puppies because, well, I was born with some conditions in my eyes. It’s not my fault, but because of them, I was considered less than perfect. My birth family, the breeders, didn’t want me. They didn’t see any way to make money from me, so they abandoned me. They left me behind because I didn’t meet their expectations. I guess I wasn’t the kind of dog they thought would sell for a profit.

I was just a little puppy, confused and scared, and I didn’t know what was happening. But then something beautiful happened. I was rescued by a wonderful group of people at UFAR Rescue in Margate, Florida. They saw past my imperfections. They didn’t care about what I lacked; they cared about me—just as I am.

Right now, I’m staying with my amazing foster mom, Monica. She’s giving me all the love, care, and comfort I need. She’s been making sure I get my medication, and she’s provided me with a safe, cozy place to sleep. It’s the first time I’ve felt truly safe, and I’m so thankful for her. Monica tells me I’m a strong boy, and I believe her. I know that with her help, I can get the surgery I need to make my life better.

But my eyes… they need a lot of help. The doctors have told us that I have a rupture in my left eye, since my eyelashes are growing inward towards my eye, causing ulcers and ruptures, and they suggest removing it completely. It’s a lot to process, but I’ve learned that even without my left eye, I can still live a full, happy life. They say it’s more important to remove the damaged eye so I can have a better chance at being healthy and comfortable.

I do have a little heart murmur, but the doctors believe the surgery can still be gentle and safe for me. They’ve reassured us that, with the right care, I can still grow up to be a happy, playful pup, living a life full of love, even with just one eye.

I just want the chance to see the world—whether it’s with two eyes or one. I want to run and play, to chase after my toys, and to feel the joy of being a happy puppy in a loving home.

But for that to happen, I need your help. The surgery is expensive, and while I have so much hope for the future, I can’t do it alone. If you can, please help me reach my goal so I can have the surgery and live the life I deserve. Hola, mi nombre es Henry y soy un Frenchie de 5 meses. Soy un poco diferente a otros cachorros porque nací con algunas condiciones en mis ojos. No es mi culpa, pero debido a esto, me consideraron imperfecto. Mi familia de origen, los criadores, no me querían. No veían ninguna forma de sacarme dinero, así que me abandonaron. Me dejaron atrás porque no cumplía con sus expectativas. Supongo que no era el tipo de perro que pensaban que se vendería por un buen precio.

Era solo un cachorrito, confundido y asustado, y no entendía qué estaba pasando. Pero luego ocurrió algo hermoso. Pero mis ojos… necesitan mucha ayuda. Los médicos nos han dicho que tengo una ruptura en mi ojo izquierdo, y sugieren eliminarlo completamente. Es mucho para procesar, pero he aprendido que incluso sin mi ojo izquierdo, aún puedo vivir una vida llena y feliz. Dicen que es más importante quitarme el ojo dañado para que tenga más posibilidades de estar saludable y cómodo.

Tengo un pequeño soplo en el corazón, pero los médicos creen que la cirugía puede ser suave y segura para mí. Nos han asegurado que, con el cuidado adecuado, aún puedo crecer y ser un cachorro feliz y juguetón, viviendo una vida llena de amor, incluso con solo un ojo.

Solo quiero tener la oportunidad de ver el mundo, ya sea con dos ojos o con uno. Quiero correr y jugar, perseguir mis juguetes y sentir la alegría de ser un cachorro feliz en un hogar lleno de amor.

Pero para que eso suceda, necesito tu ayuda. La cirugía es costosa, y aunque tengo mucha esperanza para el futuro, no puedo hacerlo solo.
