My name is Miyotis and I’ve been granted an AMAZING Opportunity to be a part of “The Academy” DCI (Drum Corps International) Colorguard. This corps is in Arizona and I’ll be away from home for 3 months. They compete around the world and perform amazing shows for the world to see. IM ABSOLUTELY OVER THE MOON ABOUT THIS NEWS. I’ve been doing band for 3 years in high school; I was in front ensemble, drumline, and even drum major. I’ve decided to do 1 season of winter guard, which is indoor. I never thought I was gonna do great with it or go through with it. Our show was called “Red String” and it was my first indoor guard show and we got 2ND at FINALS!! Turns out there was a coach there and out of the 4 people they could’ve chosen out of that competition, I WAS ONE OF THEM 4 PEOPLE!! To even be recognized and thought of to do something EXTRAVAGANT as DCI is like every band kid's dream to do. There is a lot of work going into this and thinking, and I’m really happy about it.
