Hello friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

My name is Melissa Lewis, and on October 4, 2020, my life changed forever. I was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer after I went to the ER with what I thought were COVID symptoms. A CT scan revealed the unthinkable: cancer had spread throughout my body — including my breast, lymph nodes, ribs, skull, neck, spine, pelvis, and femur.

In the blink of an eye, my world was turned upside down.

My Journey

Over the past 4.5 years, I have endured:

• Treatment every three weeks

• Ten rounds of radiation to my skull and pelvis

• Ongoing pain, fatigue, nausea, and emotional challenges

While I consider myself strong and grateful for each day, the daily battle with physical and mental exhaustion takes a heavy toll.

Why I’m Asking for Help

Before my diagnosis, I worked full-time at a Toyota manufacturing plant, providing independently for myself and my children. A week after my diagnosis, I was approved for SSDI. Overnight, my income dropped to one-third of what it used to be.

I managed to get by for a while. But the compounding costs of treatments, medications, transportation, and basic living expenses have finally overwhelmed my ability to keep up.

Despite my efforts, I’m now at a place where I must reach out and ask for help.
