Dear Friends,
Come walk with me!
Please join me—or support me—in an upcoming fundraiser walk that is incredibly important and close to my heart. Animal Care & Control (yes, where I’ve worked for 18 years!) is hosting its first-ever walk fundraiser.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control invites the community to take part in our Steps for Shelter Pets Walk—a powerful initiative to raise awareness about the staggering 10,600 animals that have entered our shelter in 2024 alone. Each lap walked represents one of those animals, shedding light on the overwhelming intake numbers and the importance of adopting, donating, fostering, and responsible pet ownership.
It’s also important to remember that many of our shelter and outreach programs—such as our free and low-cost spay/neuter program, monthly free rabies clinic, pet enrichment program (which provides Kongs, peanut butter, treats, leashes, cots, and more), and our kitten program (supporting neonate kittens until they’re ready for adoption)—are all funded by donations and grants. That’s why this walk is so meaningful and will have a lot of impact.
I can’t express how excited I am for this event and for your consideration of supporting me!
Thank you so much for your support of shelter animals!
Melissa
