Join Me to Shield a Child and Family

Wendy Laubach: I'm asking my Aransas County neighbors' help to pay emergency legal bills in a frightening child custody dispute here in Lamar. I can't give you the personal details, but I had to hire a tough and experienced family lawyer (not myself!) to get an emergency order to protect a child and the brave family member who was putting everything on the line. A temporary order already is in place. Now we have to finish the proceeding to get permanent orders protecting the child and the new custodian.

I put up the legal retainer last week so we could proceed immediately in a crisis, but it will be so helpful to me if you all can help defray these costs. Several neighbors already have stepped up in non-monetary ways to watch over our neighbor. Many thanks to our Sheriff's deputies for stepping in, too. The neighborhood will be a safer and quieter place now.
