Hello, my name is Jace Lasater. I am a sixteen-year-old AP/honors, multisport student-athlete who recently qualified for the 2025 AAU Jr Olympics in Houston, Texas. With your help, I plan to participate in this incredible opportunity and run my qualifying events, the 400m and 800m. With this letter, I will introduce myself to you and share my passions, goals, and integrity to earn your trust and support as a valued sponsor/donor.
I have played competitive soccer for several years at the academy level for Modesto Ajax 09 boys’ team and my high school team. During my freshman year of high school, I was our JV team captain, leading both teams in goals. During my sophomore year, I achieved my personal goal of making our varsity team and earned the CCAL Honorable Mention Award. I have proudly represented Modesto on my competitive and high school teams.
I have always been fast on the soccer field, so once I reached the 7th grade, I tried track, which I quickly fell in love with, and have been running ever since. I made the varsity team my freshman year, breaking multiple school records and making it to sectional trials, which was a huge accomplishment. During that year, I had a health scare that took me out of sports completely while I had testing done; thankfully, I was cleared by my cardiologist. During that time, I missed most of my track season and countless soccer games, including state cup games. As a lifelong athlete, that time was excruciatingly long. Upon my return, I found out my time at the beginning of the track season held and allowed me to still compete at our varsity championship and SJCSF section trials, which meant more than I can explain. The experience of not knowing if I could ever return to sports was eye-opening for me. I no longer take my gift for granted; my goals are even more etched into my heart and mind-- I will accomplish them.
During the summer, when I am not training for soccer or track, I work as a lifeguard for the City of Modesto, I take great pride in it. When I was five years old, I was pushed into a pool fully dressed, not knowing how to swim, and quickly sank. It was terrifying. The next day, my mom signed me up for swim lessons, where I saw a real lifeguard for the first time. I knew immediately that I wanted to become one. Now, giving back and teaching other young children how to swim and babies how to float on their back is highly fulfilling and rewarding for me. I enjoy and respect the responsibility.
Now, for my current goal; getting to the Jr Olympics and representing my community as the fastest current 400m sprinter at the high school and club level in Modesto, while absorbing everything I can there. I want to see and feel the environment while standing toe-to-toe with the nation's top track athletes in my age group. This experience will only motivate me more when I return and help me with my long-term goal of earning academic and athletic college scholarships. This life experience will add more drive to my mission, growth, and success. I cannot miss this opportunity.
Sponsors/Donors, I am seeking businesses and individuals who might see a part of themselves in me and understand the hard work and dedication required. I’m looking for those who set personal goals and actively pursue them, who take risks and challenge themselves, and who know, “if you want to go far, go together.” I hope you choose to come with me on this journey. I will proudly display your name on my jersey, featuring the top sponsor's name across my chest. After my return, I will reach out to local magazines and newspapers to share my experience and express my gratitude to my sponsors/donors, like you.
Thank you for your time and consideration– I would be incredibly thankful for your help.
