Join Mary Jo's Cancer Fight

Our mom (Mary Jo) was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2021. She went through many rounds of chemo and had a full hysterectomy. She was cancer free for a year. She then went back in and found a little spot on one of her lungs. They started a maintenance drug to help with that, which has been working.

A couple weeks ago, mom started not feeling well. She went in and thought it was a sinus infection. They gave her antibiotics for that. On January 15 Tuesday night at about 10:00, she all of a sudden went numb in her butt and upper legs. She went to the ER, where they eventually told her she needed to go to the U of M for further testing. So Wednesday January 16th and Thursday January 17th they did a bunch of tests they did, CT Scans, MRI's and EKG's cause they thought she was having a stroke. With the MRI it showed a few spots in the brain and on the spinal cord that were of concern. She has now been diagnosed with Leptomeningeal Disease. Which is cancer in your cerebrospinal fluid and in the brain. They are starting her on radiation today Friday January 17th at about 3:00. She will have to do this for 10 days in a row and then we will see how it is going.

They are not sure yet if she will be able to go home and come back everyday or if she will have to stay in the hospital for the 10 days while they do the treatment.

While our parents are navigating this journey neither one of them will be able to work with all the doctor appointments and who knows what else. With all the unknowns we want to be able to help them with some financial support which will be used for gas money for them to drive back and forth, helping with medical bills, food while at the hospital or money for a hotel so they don't have to drive back and forth.
