Hello! My name is Marta Garibaldi and I am a student at the Boston University School of Public Health, with a focus on Public Health Equity. Last semester, I worked on an extensive group project that focused on expanding SNAP benefits within the Mississippi delta. I believe that no family should go hungry simply because our government is failing to take action.

My family and I live in the Hartford area in Connecticut. Hartford remains one of the cities with the highest concentration of SNAP recipients in Connecticut. As recently as October 2025, over a third of Hartford residents were estimated to be receiving benefits. These families will lose their SNAP benefits come November.

Mutual aid is essential in times like these. In this political climate, supporting each other is more important than ever. I hope you can join me in raising money for groceries, period products, hygiene products and more for families losing SNAP benefits.

I will also be donating food at various "mini pantries" across the Hartford area, as well as donating at Hartford Food Not Bombs during their

weekly community potluck. I will also be donating hygiene supplies, food, and money to the East Hartford Food Pantry; monetary donations are often extra helpful to pantries as they can buy food at a discount, have screening measures in place, and have greater knowledge of what the community needs. So if we can't find more individual families, we will still be actively donating to these entities. At the end of November, all remaining funds will be donated to Mutual Aid Hartford (https://www.mutualaidhartford.com).

All grocery receipts will be posted here to ensure your money is going towards its intended purpose. We will also be posting photos with families (while protecting their digital privacy) that we donate to and any food pantry drop offs. I have also paid out of pocket for supplies for our first family.
