If you've ever sat around a campfire with Mandy and her guitar, please consider the following:
My dear younger sister Marilyn (Mandy) Peek-Jensen has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer in her jaw. On January 13th, Mandy underwent a very serious surgery that involved replacing bone in her jaw with part of her fibula, as well as using skin grafts taken from her thigh and shin to replace the delicate skin of her mouth (Malignant Neoplasm of Mandible) (Fibular Flap Procedure).
She was in the hospital for 8 days and has begun therapy to learn to talk, swallow, and strengthen her leg where they harvested her bone and skin.
Prior to this, her husband Michael of 28 years had been diagnosed with early onset dementia, and they are hoping he can qualify for disability benefits.
Michael can no longer work full time, and Mandy is not back to work as she has started a six week course of radiation. Recovery proves to be a full-time job.
Mandy has two sons who have part-time and full-time jobs, but the family could use some love and support. Sometimes, it takes a village.
Anything you can give would greatly help them keep their home, pay for mounting hospital bills, medical equipment, Radiology, Physician visits, as well as food, utilities, and gasoline as they make the daily trek (an hour each way) to radiation.
I ask for help on her behalf until she can get back on her feet.
Our Mandy has a beautiful singing voice, and I can't wait to sing with her again.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
Sincerely,
Catherine Webb
