*** UPDATED DIAGNOSIS***
The samples of bone marrow and spinal fluid previously sent to a children's hospital in LA came back and now Maisie has a different type of leukemia called MPALS (Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia). On July 7th, the world changed for Maisie and the Giammarco family. What started as lethargy and unusually pale looking skin, quickly turned into a devastating diagnosis- T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Maisie has been in the hospital and began chemotherapy immediately. She now faces an intense 8-10 months of chemo followed by 1-2 years of maintenance.
Despite everything, at only the age of 8, Maisie remains resilient and strong. She’s enjoying visits from her siblings, Olivia (10) & Maxwell (3), and is looking forward to going home later this week.
The road ahead is filled with challenges - medical bills, time off work, possible travel, and the countless hidden costs that come with childhood cancer. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will ease their burdens so they can focus on what truly matters: helping Maisie fight and heal.
Thank you for your support. Let’s rally around Maisie and her family and show them they are not alone in this battle.
A meal train has also been started for the Giammarco Family, you can find it here: Meal Train
