Join Luke and Samuel’s Fight against Cancer

Donation protected
This has been an unthinkable nightmare these past few months for the Chapin Family. With two family members diagnosed with cancer, there will be many expenses to cover.

It all started just weeks before Samantha was due to give birth to their third child. At 35 weeks pregnant, Samantha’s doctor called to tell her that they had found a mass in their baby’s abdomen, and that she was sending her to a specialist.

After seeing the specialist, they were told that it should be nothing to worry about, but they would need an MRI to know more. After the MRI, they were told that it was likely Neuroblastoma, which is scary, but very treatable, especially when caught early.

After a c-section at 38 weeks pregnant, Luke was immediately taken to the NICU with the intention of transferring him to Phoenix Children’s to start treatment. After getting a biopsy of the large tumor in Luke’s abdomen, they found out he had a very rare form of cancer. So rare, that he may be the only baby in the world who has been born with it - BCOR Round Cell Sarcoma.

In the moments of desperate cries to the Lord to make a way when there didn't seem to be a way, God led Samuel and Samantha straight to St Judes in TN. Within hours of finding out St Judes actually had an open clinical trial for this rare cancer, they were accepted into the program and then their entire family was flown from Phoenix to Memphis so Luke could start treatment.

Around the same time that they arrived in Memphis, Luke’s daddy, Samuel, started to notice blood in his stool. Concerned, he sought out a doctor in Memphis to get a colonoscopy to check everything out.

Three months after arriving at St. Jude, Samuel received more devastating news. He had a 5 cm mass in his colon that looked like cancer. It has since been confirmed that it is adenocaricoma.

Although St. Jude covers expenses such as housing and food, there are so many other expenses that will need to be covered. Samuel is the family’s main income maker, and has already taken most of his PTO to take care of Luke. Let alone the fact that he will now be incurring his own healthcare expenses. There were expenses that accrued in the first two weeks at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Samantha’s mom quit her job to be in Memphis with them and support them, but still has life expenses such as health insurance. Samuel and Samantha still have a mortgage payment at home. With both Samuel and Luke going through treatment at the same time, they will be spread very thin trying to take care of everyone. They may need to find child care for their other kids aged 4 and 2. Needless to say there may be many expenses both expected and unexpected in the coming months.

Feel free to share this with family and friends, donate as you feel led, and most importantly please PRAY FOR HEALING for precious Luke and his daddy Samuel.

The path ahead is uncertain. We are asking for believers to rally around them and pray for a miracle.

Would you please pray for complete healing for my precious nephew and brother? Would you please pray for hope and comfort for Samuel and Samantha and their kids/family as they walk this journey? Would you please pray for provision for all of the practical needs they will need in the coming days? Will you please pray for wise doctors and people to rally around them? Will you please pray over Luke and Samuel— that God will shield them from pain and hold them through every dark moment? Would you please share this prayer request with others? You can join their Fb group to pray with us and follow for updates. ❤️
