Hello! My name is Lonnie. In September 2017, while meeting with my urologist to discuss some recent tests, he informed me that I had stage 4 metastatic terminal prostate cancer. My entire world changed that day.
I have since fought the disease with treatments that somewhat worked as well as treatments that did not work. Throughout most of my journey, I continued to work a full-time job until recently.
In July of 2022, I was forced to reduce to a part-time position. The financial strain is excruciating. I often tell people that cancer forces us to be experts at "robbing Peter to pay Paul," which in turn is a very dangerous game.
It has been a little more than 7 years now fighting this horrible disease and each passing day adds more financial stress.
The people in my life that are closest to me wish to throw me a celebration of life gathering. It will be amazing to have all of the people that have impacted and influenced my life to be together… just for a day. As my cancer slowly progresses, I want to make this happen while I’m still fairly mobile. I greatly appreciate any help I receive. Thank you!
