Lila Dove was born May 7th, 2025, at 6lb 7oz to Courtney & Ethan. She was born with cloaca malfunction, only one healthy kidney, and two uteruses. She was immediately taken to CHOA (Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta) to be monitored in the NICU. During this time, she had colostomy surgery and dropped down to 5lb 6oz. After staying in Atlanta for two weeks, Courtney, Ethan, and Lila were finally able to come home.

Two weeks later, on June 5th, she was admitted to CHOA again with a 102 fever. After several MRIs and testing, they discovered a pocket of bacteria had formed on her one healthy kidney. They were able to go in and drain the bacteria but discovered it ultimately was from her cloaca. After a lot of monitoring over the following week, they were finally discharged.

On July 7th, Lila will have a cloacagram, which is the last road map of what they'll need to do the reconstruction surgery. The reconstruction surgery will then be on August 27th. The medical costs are significant, with co-pays, surgical fees, medical supplies, and housing near CHOA for the many surgeries adding up quickly. Courtney, Ethan, and Lila have a long road ahead, but with the love, prayers, and support of their community, we know they can overcome these challenges.
