On May 19th, 2025, our family received the biopsy results no family ever wants to receive. Layla is our perfectly healthy, beautiful 12-year-old girl whose life changed overnight on this day. After a trip to the doctor for mild stomach cramps a few days prior, an ultrasound was ordered. That turned into an admission to Cleveland Clinic, and a biopsy was taken the following morning. Had it not been for the amazing Cleveland Clinic staff ordering that ultrasound, Layla's tumor may not have been discovered as quickly as it was.
Layla's official diagnosis is pediatric Hepatoblastoma (liver cancer).
We started a very intense but incredibly detailed treatment plan for treatment prior to removal. Layla has completed 1 out of 3 cycles so far, and results have been better than we could have imagined in such a short amount of time. Her treatment includes Cisplatin & Doxorubicin as well as many other counter chemo medications and antibiotics.
Due to the circumstances, we currently are going to live in Cleveland for the next year at least. We are very lucky to have decent health insurance and flexible employment to support Layla. We still have a ton of unexpected expenses and are expecting more as we go through this.
Donations will 100% be used to cover these costs, living expenses, relocating, and travel for the duration of her treatments. Also, co-pays and out-of-pocket costs for some of the drugs are astronomical. We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to show support and for any help with our journey through this.
