Hi, my name is Laurie, and I never thought I’d find myself needing to ask for help like this. But sometimes life takes unexpected turns, and right now, I’m facing one of the biggest challenges of my life.
I’ve recently been diagnosed with cancer, and I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. As many of you know, these treatments are exhausting both physically and emotionally. On top of that, the financial strain from medical bills, medications, travel to and from appointments, and everyday living expenses has quickly become overwhelming.
I’ve always tried to be independent and strong, but the reality is, I cannot do this alone. The costs continue to add up, and any contribution, no matter how small, would go directly toward helping cover my ongoing medical treatments, medications, and household expenses while I focus on healing and recovery.
If you’re not able to give, I completely understand, your prayers, kind words, and support mean the world to me. Please feel free to share this with others who might be willing to help.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story, for standing by me, and for being part of my support system during this difficult time.
The funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly toward helping me and my family stay afloat while I undergo cancer treatment. Every dollar makes a difference, and here’s how your support will be used:
1. Medical Bills & Treatment Costs
Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs are overwhelming. Funds will help cover:
• Chemotherapy and radiation sessions
• Lab work, imaging, and follow-up appointments
• Prescription medications and supplements
• Port care and other ongoing treatment necessities
2. Transportation & Travel
I have frequent medical appointments and treatments at Sarasota Memorial, which means a lot of back-and-forth trips. Funds will help with:
• Gas, tolls, and parking fees
• Occasional Uber/Lyft rides when I’m too weak to drive myself
3. Basic Living Expenses
Because treatment has made it hard to work consistently, this fundraiser will help us keep up with:
• Rent/mortgage and utilities
• Groceries and household necessities
• Phone and internet (which help me stay connected to my doctors and support system)
4. Supportive Care & Recovery
When I feel up to it, I want to invest in things that help me heal and stay as strong as I can during this process. This includes:
• Nutritional support (special foods and supplements my team recommends)
• Comfortable clothes and items to make long treatments more bearable
• Mental health care, which can be hard to afford but is so needed during this time
