Tuesday morning at around 6:30 am I took my dog (Koa) for his daily walk/run where we normally go to a park nearby. After we arrived my dog got violently attacked by an off leash dog. This attack lasted for over a minute with 5 people working with me to stop the attack.
Koa is a rescue dog who was in the shelter for months after being abused and recovering from surgery. Since Hayley and I moved to Hawaii, he is now the closest thing to family we have. He is our everything! He has become the perfect dog for us and anyone who has visited, can say the same. Koa, being our first dog to own individually has taught us so much. This horrible incident is another lesson.
A police report has been made, and the owner of the other dog is still at fault. The information I had received from the owner was invalid/ not responsive. From discussion with police, there is a chance the owner of the dog is homeless.
Hayley and I are now left with a big medical bill that we never once imagined. We have received enormous amounts of messages and prayers and are grateful for each and every one of them. We have been asked by many of ways to help us. We agreed that helping reduce the burden of medical bills would be the biggest help. We are grateful for any amount to help ease the burden. Please continue to keep Koa in your thoughts as he recovers from his injuries.
With LOVE & ALOHA
