About two weeks ago Kevin went to the emergency room in Summerfield from work because he was having trouble breathing. After some initial tests which indicated very high blood pressure he was transferred by ambulance to the main HCA hospital in Ocala. Additional tests there indicated 8 heart blockages with three of the main arteries blocked at 95%, 80% and 50% and his EF is 20-25% and he is in heart failure. He is currently waiting on an additional test at Shands to see if the heart can sustain surgery to clear at least the major blockages. If prognosis is favorable he would probably not be able to return to a new, desk job until 6 months after surgery. If the prognosis is not favorable he would go on the heart transplant list. He is currently wearing a cardiac life vest and is in good spirits but their life has been turned upside down. They are working to reduce their monthly expenses and they only have one vehicle now. Biggest concern is monthly rent and utilities which total about $2,000. Six months would be $12,000 which is what the goal is. They hate to even ask but don’t have anywhere else to turn.
