Help Shumi Ramen (Kenny and Winnie) Overcome Tragic Loss

Donation protected

Dear Friends and Community Members, I am reaching out with heavy hearts to share the story of Kenny and Winnie, the devoted owners of Shumi Ramen, a cherished eatery once nestled inside the Lake Chabot Public Market. On May 30, 2024, our beloved marketplace was devastated by a 3-alarm fire, turning Kenny and Winnie's dreams and livelihood to ashes overnight.

A Tribute to Audrey

Shumi Ramen was more than just a restaurant; it was a tribute to Kenny and Winnie's beloved daughter, Audrey, who tragically passed away at the tender age of 17. Born in Eden Hospital, just down the street from Lake Chabot Public Market, Audrey was a passionate ramen lover. Many of their most precious memories are of sharing homemade, authentic food with her. To honor Audrey's memory, Kenny and Winnie poured their hearts, spirits, and lifetime savings into Shumi Ramen, a place where families, especially children, could gather and enjoy gourmet food.

Devastated by Fire

The fire has left Kenny and Winnie with nothing. Despite losing their business, their contractual obligations with various service providers remain. Without a source of revenue, they are now under immense pressure from debt collectors, facing $100K in debts, and struggling to cover basic living expenses.

Humble Plea for Donations

I humbly ask for your support to help Kenny and Winnie. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in giving them the hope and strength to rebuild their lives.

Shumi Ramen was small, but it was everything to Kenny and Winnie. With resilience and your generous support, their story will continue. Thank you for walking this journey with them.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Kaori Miller
