Hello, my name is Katy and the adorable face you are seeing is my dog Teddy. He is a 5-year-old Pomeranian who is the absolute light of my life. On Friday, June 14th, Teddy was admitted to the Emergency vet hospital where he stayed until Monday morning. He was regurgitating every single hour multiple times and we had no diagnosis. He was released back to me with no answers in hopes he would get better.
Since then, I have had to take him back to my regular vet 2 more times with little progress in his discomfort. On Saturday, he finally started feeling better and was back to himself and I was so relieved. Unfortunately, today things have taken a turn for the worse again and he is now back at the emergency vet with a diagnosis of IMHA. This is a disease that attacks his healthy red blood cells and breaks them down, he has become so anemic he needs a blood transfusion and will be on steroids now for the rest of his life. He just finished his first transfusion and might need more before he is released.
This is not going to be an easy road to recovery for him, as this disease is now a part of his everyday reality. If you could please like, share, or donate whatever you can so I can help keep him alive, I will forever be grateful. He is so young and full of life it just does not feel right for this to be his time. He is a strong boy who just needs all the support he can get to make it through this. This dog has saved my life and now it’s time for me to save his. Thank you all.
