Hello, I’m Katey and I’ve created this GoFundMe for our dear family friend, Jon. We met Jon in 2016 when we lived in Portland. We’ve become closer and closer over the years, and when we moved back up to the Seattle area, Jon began driving up to visit and spend time with us. We’ve been on many camping trips together and spend every Thanksgiving together. If my kids had a godparent, Jon would be it. He’s a van-lifer by choice and spends all of his free time hiking, summiting mountains, photographing wildlife, and the list goes on. In all the years I’ve known him, I don’t know of a single instance where he’s asked anyone for anything. He would literally give you the shirt off his back, has a staggeringly positive and upbeat attitude, will bring laughter to any situation, wouldn’t harm a fly under any circumstances, will always bring the laughter and jokes to the party, will never judge anyone of any profile, and will genuinely treat everyone equally. He is sincerely interested in other people's life stories and experiences. He sounds too good to be real, and even I wouldn’t believe all this if he wasn’t one of my dear close friends. Jon is genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve ever known, and he loves his friends and sister deeply.

In July of this year, Jon was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He has further tests and imaging studies scheduled in the coming days to determine staging and lymph node involvement, and will undergo surgery in Portland, OR, on September 2nd. My family and I created this to raise funds to assist with all of Jon’s medical bills, time off work, and recovery expenses. To know Jon is to love him, and it’s his turn to be loved and supported by all those around him. Please give anything that you are able, big or small, and share this with as many as you can.
