Update: Karen has completed her initial planned round of treatments, but unfortunately, they were not effective. Her medical team is now exploring a new treatment option involving Keytruda, though insurance coverage continues to be a challenge. We remain hopeful and are doing everything we can to support her through this next phase. Every moment with Karen is a gift, and we’re treasuring each one. Please keep the prayers, love, and positive energy coming; it truly means the world to us.
As some of you may already know, after years of uncertainty, Karen was diagnosed with inoperable stage 3 cervical cancer on February 13, 2025. Her oncologist has outlined an aggressive treatment plan, beginning with 30 total radiation sessions: 25 external, followed by an MRI, and then 5 internal sessions. Chemotherapy will start simultaneously.
Next week, she will undergo a CT scan for “mapping,” which is essentially a preparation process to help ensure everything is aligned correctly during each treatment session. She will also need five iron infusions, with the first one likely scheduled after the CT scan.
The cancer has attached to her cervix, spread to her lymph nodes, and slightly affected the surrounding areas. It’s at the point where it’s beginning to invade nearby tissues, which is a major concern, but her oncologist’s goal is to prevent it from spreading further. Treatment is set to begin in two weeks, but financial difficulties are a significant hurdle right now.
We humbly ask for your prayers and any monetary donations to help with her treatment costs. Every contribution will go directly toward her medical care. We are deeply grateful for the support and kindness from all of you, and we ask you to help surround Karen with love and encouragement during this incredibly challenging time.
