Join Karen Guerrero's Fight Against Cancer

I never thought we would be here, but here we are (again). Let me start with a little background. The definition of a strong women is “confident, resilient, determined, independent, courageous, tenacious, assertive, empowered, fearless, passionate, unwavering, and influential; highlighting both her inner strength and ability to overcome challenges.” This is my mother, Karen Guerrero. She is the most amazing person I have ever met.

My mom has dedicated her entire life to her in-home daycare for the past 40+ years. Raising, caring, and loving other families’ children while raising my brother, myself, and her grandchildren. She is well known as “Auntie Karen” to all my daycare siblings and “Grandma Karen” to her five granddaughters, and current daycare children.

In 2020, with the difficulties of COVID my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent chemo and radiation therapy to kick cancers butt. She courageously fought and won the battle. As she went back for her annual checkup in 2023, we found out that the cancer had returned. My mom went through more rounds of chemo and radiation therapy. Again, the warrior my mom is, she fought the long battle and won. During both rounds of treatment in 2020 and 2023, she was unable to work and didn’t have a steady income. My Dad worked intermittently to support and care for her while attending all her treatments and her appointments. The words “it takes a village” was an accurate representation during these difficult times. Sadly, here we are again. The cancer has returned with a vengeance and has spread. Currently the cancer is inoperable and will require more chemotherapy. Being the strong women she is, she will continue to work as long as possible, but as we prepare for the third battle, we are asking our village for help.

Her treatment plan at this point is to start small doses of chemotherapy, attend regular checkups, along with scan/radiology appointments. Any help is greatly appreciated!
