Join Kara in her journey to Independence

My name is Kara, and I am a single mom due to leaving an abusive marriage and I have a desire to support my family. It was my desire before marriage and children to put myself through training at Blue Heron Academy and become licensed as a medical massage therapist.

I have worked in the fitness field as a fitness trainer and personal trainer, as well as worked as a swim instructor. I love being a part of other’s journey towards a healthy lifestyle and now have experienced my own setbacks in health that have driven me toward an even greater desire to help people.

This course is projected to be about a year in length and would allow me to train at home as most of the course is online, therefore I can also supervise and continue to teach two of my children that are unable to attend formal school this year. My goal is to get them where they need to be so that the following year they can join my other two children at school full-time and by then to have completed the training.

The money to be raised would cover the course and books but doesn’t include any tools, uniforms etc. This certification would allow me to work in chiropractic offices, massage clinics, hospitals, schools and I could work on my own.

I've always loved the sport of volleyball and the teamwork required to excell and I see this next step as a way for me to become part of a team for life.
