Kalila was recently diagnosed with lupus, a serious autoimmune disease that’s attacking her body — including both of her precious eyes. Her immune system is severely compromised, and doctors in Cebu are still working to determine the specific type of lupus she has. In the meantime, her condition has worsened, and her vision has been significantly affected.

She is now scheduled for urgent surgery on her first eye in just three weeks, with future treatment needed for her other eye as well. This is only the beginning of a long and difficult journey.

Kalila will need to travel regularly to Cebu for testing, treatment, and close medical supervision. Her condition demands careful monitoring for fevers, joint swelling, vision changes, and other symptoms. Doctors have also stressed the importance of avoiding sun exposure — a major lupus trigger — along with vigilant attention to signs of fatigue, rashes, and flare-ups.

Her care involves visits to multiple specialists, strict medication schedules, and ongoing emotional support to help her stay strong through it all.
