Hello friends and family. I am taking a moment to reach out to you for help. As some of you may know, my niece Kaia underwent surgery on October 9th to remove a large mass from her right ovary.
As they prepared for her surgery, Mike and Deanna learned that the mass was likely malignant. The pathology reports have indicated Kaia has a rare form of ovarian cancer—a mixed germ cell/yolk sac tumor.
While the surgery was considered successful initially, the pathology report also showed two small ruptures within the tumor. As a result, Kaia will begin her first round of three chemo treatments on Oct. 22nd at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Each round will require a week's stay in the hospital. These will be given every 3 weeks. In addition, Kaia will have a weekly treatment requiring travel each week.
Deanna and Mike are asking for your thoughts and prayers as we continue to take on this fight with Kaia. Her doctors are very optimistic that she will be cancer-free after the chemo rounds. They humbly ask if you can help, to generously gift to this fund to help with the expenses they face going forward.
We thank you all for your love and support!
