Join Kadence's Journey to Pittsburgh Ballet

Hi everyone! My name is Kadence and I appreciate you taking time to read my story. I am 20 years old and I have been aspiring to become a professional ballet dancer from a young age and have trained many years to try and achieve this goal. Since graduating high school in 2022 I have been training at The School of Cadence Ballet in Toronto in the Graduate Program. This past year I also worked alongside Gretta Hodgkinson who was a former principal dancer with National Ballet of Canada in her mentoring program. Over these 2 years I have traveled for ballet company auditions and submitted many auditions online hoping for a position, but with an influx of dancers auditioning due to the pause during covid it is extremely hard to get into a company.

I was previously accepted into Nashville Ballet school for their professional division and was hoping to attend, but unfortunately they were not able to provide the student visa I needed. I was able to get in contact with Pittsburgh Ballet School where I have also been previously accepted and they were able to offer me a spot in their grad program for this season. I would love to be able to continue my training in hopes of getting to participate in many performances with Pittsburgh Ballet's company including The Nutcracker and be able to continue to audition for multiple companies in hopes of getting my first company contract.

To make this happen it is very expensive, as I need to cover tuition and rent in the United States which is very costly moving from Canada. I am also unable to work in the United States, as I don’t have a visa, which makes it incredibly difficult for me to contribute to these costs. I have been fortunate enough to raise funds for the next 3 months of tuition + rent, but am hoping to be able to train all the way until May 2025. It would be a dream to be able to train in Pittsburgh, so I am hoping to be able to raise enough funds to help support this dream.
