Join Justin’s journey to the CrossFit games.

Hi! My name is Justin Whitaker. I am legally blind and have very little usable vision. I have 2 degenerative retinal diseases that cause blindness. One is Retinitis Pigmentosa, the other is Leber Congenital Amaurosis. Without medical breakthroughs, these diseases are incurable.

I’m also a CrossFit athlete at CrossFit Chivalry in West Monroe, Louisiana where I’ve been a member since June 2023. I just recently finished competing in the Adaptive CrossFit Open and SemiFinals, where I competed in the Vision Impaired division, against other blind CrossFit athletes from around the world. I finished ranked 9th in the world in the division.

Having finished in the Top 10, I earned the right to compete at the Adaptive CrossFit Games in Las Vegas, September 11th-14th. I’ll be 1 of 3 Americans competing. Along with athletes from England, Australia, Mexico, Colombia, Serbia, and Italy.

My wife and I will be accompanied by my coach, and handler for the competition. I’m reaching out to see if anyone in our community would be interested in sponsoring or donating to help me achieve this dream.

I’m needing $6,000 for the trip. That includes $3,500 for 2 rooms at the resort. $1,300 for round trip air fare out of Monroe for 4 people, and $1,400 to go toward food and other expenses.
